Mother’s Day, just make it a Family Day!

With Mother’s Day fast approaching (Sunday 27th March if you need a reminder!) we’ve put together some fun ideas of things to do in #Northumberland.

Family are made up of so many dynamics, so we think that Mother’s Day should just be a family day!

Here’s five of our top things to do that don’t just involve heading out for a Sunday roast, (although if you can fit one of those in too, then why the heck not!)

Warkworth Castle and River walk, with an ice cream stop too!

If you haven’t visited Warkworth Castle set high on the hill top overlooking the village, now is the time to go. Covered in a carpet of daffodils the hillside that hosts this impressive fortress looks spectacular as it comes into bloom.

Awash with history and known for its cross shaped keep, Warkworth Castle and the surrounding village creates a fantastic day out.

After a visit to the Castle, take a short stroll along the river coquet in its tranquil setting.

From the end of March boat trips take visitors across to the Hermitage, a religious building in the rock. (Book tickets for the Castle and Hermitage here).

Any trip to Warkworth should include a short drive to Morwick Dairy for Ice Cream. Using their own fresh cream to make traditional ice cream.

If you still have time to squeeze something else in, why not head to Warkworth beach, a hidden gem this huge expanse of beach gives great views of Amble Marina.

Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum with delicious cakes and Earl Grey Tea

Howick Hall Gardens has something for all the family. Walks, blooms, sensory garden and delicious cakes!

Following the snow drop trails earlier in the year, Howick Hall starts to burst into colour with daffodils a plenty. Enjoy a stroll around the primrose walk, head into the sensory garden, great for kids of all ages and finish up the day at Howick Hall Tea Rooms with delicious food such as toasties, soup and homemade cakes!

The Running Fox Café.

Set over four locations, The Running Fox offers lots of opportunities to celebrate with the family. Try their filling and wholesome afternoon tea option in their cafes which includes, sandwiches, pie, cakes and scones, with options for children too.

If you can’t get to The Running Fox Café, bring it to you with fantastic hamper options or have afternoon tea delivered (within a 10-mile radius.)

Beau Monde Lucker

A relaxing adult’s day out! Try this family run spa, sink away into the ultimate day of relaxation, nestled in the Northumbrian countryside.

Whether yours is a massage, facial or wrap, choose from a variety of treatments or drift away in the hot tub and let the stress of life wash over you as you glide through the pool.
