Experience Northumberland with our Activities and Wellness!
If lockdown taught us all one thing, it was that our mental and physical health should be our main priorities.
Staycations should be about immersing yourself in the local area, soaking up the atmosphere and showering yourself in the full experience of all there is to offer.
Northumberland has an abundance of activities to experience and at Little Hideaways, this season, we’ve seen a large number of guests coming to visit Northumberland for the first time, along with lots of regulars that have been coming for years. We not only want to offer an experience to those who are coming for the first time, but also hope to offer something new for those who may have been coming to Northumberland for years.
This season at Little Hideaways we launched our Activities and Wellness page on our website, meaning we can provide guests with not only cosy relaxing accommodation, but activities that can help create a memorable and fulfilling holiday experience.
We’ve teamed up with a number of suppliers that offer additional experiences for your staycation such as Deb Yoga, private beach yoga to help you feel revitalised and relaxed.
Guided walks with Footsteps in Northumberland where you can experience Northumberland with a professional walking guide.
Or drift away the stress of that wild and windy beach walk with an in-cottage spa treatment at the end of a long day.
As a team at Little Hideaways, we always make sure we experience as many of the activities we promote as possible and one of the next on our list is to head out with Footsteps in Northumberland. We’re most excited about the Eyemouth and St. Abbs head Walk. St. Abbs is high on our to do list and we’re looking forward to finding out lots of information from Patrick who has a wealth of experience in the area.
Back in July we met up with Deb at @debswiftyoga and enjoyed an immersive private beach yoga session.
Eagerly organised, with our yoga mat in hand having kept a keen eye on he forecast, we took the scenic stroll through Seahouses harbour and along the dune coastal path towards Bamburgh to Seahouses Beach where we met Deb.
With the sand beneath our toes, the sound of lapping seas on the shore and a view across to the Frane Islands Deb talked us through what we wanted out of the session, our ability (you don’t need to have done yoga before) and the enjoyment of yoga on the beach. We instantly felt relaxed just listening to our natural environment and we hadn’t even struck a pose!
We spent the next hour working through a series of movements, stretches and poses, working with our ability all the time. We were unfortunate to catch a shower but we actually chose to carry on. Deb will always communicate with you if the weather looks questionable and she advised us to book our yoga session earlier in our holiday just in case we needed to re schedule due to inclement weather.
However, in our group we decided we wouldn’t be put off by the shower. I think sometimes we have to embrace the weather. After all, we are waterproof and you can’t get much more immersive and grounding than yoga in the rain. I think there’s something liberating about not being bothered if you get wet, especially when you can dry off with a lovely cup of Ringtons tea by the log burner back at the cottage is a cosy way to dry off, before heading to the local for a pint of Farne Island and a game of Monopoly Deal!
We’d highly recommend private beach yoga during your stay to really connect with your environment, unwind and ground yourself, drifting away from all of life’s other demands. We’ll be signing up again that’s for sure!
